Long time didn't have much content to post on this blog until recently I saw a few of the fellow owners getting contacted by foreign sounding people indicating interest to rent their property and then trying to use parcel scam technique to scam the owner.
Their modus operandi at the moment has the following characteristics.
- claims to be some expat working in some big name corporation being sent to Malaysia.
- insists on using Whatsapp messages and refusing to call on mobile voice lines.
- sad story of how customs want to tax their shipment of stuff to the country.
- want to use Paypal for money transfers.
Currently, what I hear is that Mudah.my ads on property are being targeted and they try to target direct owners rather than agents.
If you receive any messages from these people, just use the block function in Whatsapp and block them to oblivion. Never transfer any money to them, and never handover keys without collecting any deposit in cash.
